Publishing this book in the historic Modi script of Marathi cut it off at the knees before it even had a chance to run. Every translator I approached laughed and asked why on earth I would want to do such a thing. These days, Marathi's historic script is normally only used decoratively on documents like wedding invitations. But how will the knowledge of it be retained unless children have access to it?

The revivalist movement for the Modi script is tiny compared to the size of the Marathi speaking community. For it to succeed, they will need the tenacity of Rani Tarabai. Setbacks come and go. Only the resilient survive time after time. The friend I dedicated this book to might not like being compared to Rani Tarabai. Yet she's been through a lot of adversity in her life and always manages to pull through with strength and courage seldom seen in men.

As with several Bilingual Legends books, the contents of this one is more geared towards an older audience. It's meant for people who are learning an additional language (or script) but who desire a less challenging text with supporting pictures to help them through.
